Welcome from the land of Twitter

My name is Bean Fairbanks and I have been poking around the web since 1989. I won’t claim that I invented the information highway like others have before me but I do remember back when it was rare outside of academic institutions and governments! Back then and even now, I continue to be inspired, educated, awed, grateful and occasionally irked by the wonderful web.

I used to make my living by the web, now I spend my time online teaching and learning. For the last two years, I have been teaching at LVS Online. There motto is “Where the learning is fun” and I can attest to that because I was a student there for five years before I started teaching there.

Although registration is currently closed for the May session, I usually teach the following courses:

When I am not teaching formally, I love to exchange information on my blogs. They range from the personal to the technical. I don’t always get to update them as frequently as I would like, assisting my students is my priority these days. The Wine Beer Washington blog is the most active and is a reflection on my passion for supporting local businesses.

My tweets tend to reflect that as well. I tend to tweet about things that I think will inform, educate or inspire my students. I tend to follow people that inform, entertain or enlighten me. I follow friends, students and professionals that I admire.
