How to install a WordPress-Blog

“fast and easy to install”

This post was auto generated by 43 things, I am trying it out as a social network option for my blogging students

How I did it: I have installed many wordpress blogs for myself, friends and clients. I have installed blogs on the WordPress website and on private domains. For the self hosted blogs, I have used Fantastico and FTP to install the blogs.

Lessons & tips: First, you need to decide if you want WordPress to host your blog or if you want the control and flexibility that comes with hosting your wordpress blog on your own website.

If you want WordPress to do it, it is as easy as signing up on WordPress.com

If you want to do it on your web site, check with your web host company. Many companies use Fantastico via cpanel that makes your installation  not much more involved than filling out a form and pushing some button. If your web host doesn’t have an easy install WP option, you can do a manual install with FTP, the links and information are at http://wordpress.org/download/

If that is too geeky for you, you can use http://install4free.wordpress.net/. I have students that swear by them.

Resources: WordPress documentation and forums are a great resource. Most bloggers are incredibly helpful and eager to share information with you.

Good luck!

It took me 1 day.

It made me successful
